Six years ago, I graduated from the University of Florida with my PhD in Nutrition. While I was there, I learned A LOT about gut health (which if you haven’t heard, is really a part of all the other health things). I learned about probiotics and fiber. I studied how eating more fiber makes your gut healthier, and how that just ripples to make your entire body healthier. I became so passionate about teaching this to everyone and helping them learn how to feed their bodies with the best.
And then, I had a couple of kids.
My world turned upside down. I started to see for myself how and why busy, tired parents just can’t keep up with the daily grind AND fit in taking care of themselves to this optimal degree I envisioned in my head.
So my quest began to figure this all out: HOW are we supposed to take good care of ourselves (cook healthy food, exercise, sleep well…) while raising a family, and working, and dishes, and laundry, and friends and school and yadayada? Good lord!
I’ve learned a lot about myself in the process, and, to complement my nutrition knowledge, I’ve learned tons of skills, hacks, and systems that got me to a “good enough” balance where I’m eating well, fitting in exercise a few times a week, and making room for 8 hours of sleep (whether it’s interrupted or not is not in my power for the next few years. But it’s fine). Things are going well.
